Contact the Dean of Students for housing accommodation requests. For on-campus housing accommodations needed immediately, please contact the Office of Public Safety. For an off-campus option, Women and Children’s Horizons of Kenosha also offers emergency shelter and transitional living.

Students can request to live on the gender-inclusive floor in the Madrigano Hall that will be specifically for individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+ and allies. However, non-binary and transgender students will be prioritized in the selection process as they are looking to create a safe environment for students who identify as transgender and non-binary.

Carthage welcomes transgender student-athletes to our teams. If you are a transgender student-athlete, you can view Carthage’s transgender student-athlete policy. In order to ensure compliance with NCAA regulations, transgender student-athletes must also complete the transgender student-athlete participation request form prior to athletic participation to be kept on record with the athletics department.

Many Carthage faculty and staff are SafeZone trained, meaning that they have received specific training and are open to talking about and being supportive of LGBTQ+ individuals and identities. These Carthage faculty and staff often display SafeZone stickers on their office windows. Many individuals on campus are also certified as Equity Warriors, who are available for students to turn to in a time of need. The Equity Warrior Shield is displayed on office doors and laptops for students to easily identify the faculty and/or staff who participated in professional learning experiences to deepen their cross-cultural understandings.

The Office of Student Life is responsible for a variety of functions that aid students in many phases of their campus life and is focused on developing community, supporting students, and empowering students for success.

The Office of Equity and Inclusion provides information about diversity-related programming at Carthage, as well as a directory of diversity-related resources for all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the greater community.

Campus Counselors

The Health and Counseling Center assists students in addressing physical, mental, and emotional well-being. All services are free and confidential and provided by experienced professionals trained to attend to the concerns of young adults in college.
